Employee serves as the lead technical consultant responsible for executing various design mapping products, complex volume computations, dredging analysis, data editing and analysis, and quality control for projects utilizing computer-aided design and drafting (AutoCAD), HYPACK hydrographic software, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including assessing relevant training requirements for lower-grade engineers and technicians, mentoring and training such individuals in the use of AutoCAD and HYPACK software packages. Responsibilities and Duties: Serves as the lead Civil Engineering Technician for support of civil works, interagency and military projects, using advanced knowledge in hydrographic surveying, topographic surveying, navigation and coastal engineering principles, volume computation, AutoCAD and HYPACK software, and geographic information system (GIS). Utilizes a variety of tools such as scientific calculators and Microsoft (MS) Windows computers and software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Hypack, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) MS Word and MS Excel to produce construction contract drawings and technical documents such as quantity estimates and channel condition reports associated with the navigation dredging program. Specialized Experience: Performs technical and design assignments in support of the District’s in Civil Works mission to include navigation and construction.
